Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service provides more than just a 999 emergency service. Our work still includes putting out fires and rescuing persons from hazardous situations, but now our focus is much more on preventing fires and accidents occurring in the first place.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to working with the local people to help make the community safer.

Through attending fires across the county we have seen the benefits that smoke alarms have brought to saving lives. Therefore, as part of this project we aim to make you and your family safer from fire.

We will provide Home Fire Safety Checks free of charge.

This includes trained fire fighters visiting your home and providing fire safety advice.

Where appropriate we will fit smoke alarms in your home. These smoke alarms have a 10-year battery – again, this is free of charge.
